Ag in the Classroom
Since 1992, Monroe County Farm Bureau has partnered with the Joe Peden Family and Monroe County Purdue Extension to put on the annual Children’s Farm Festival. The two-day event on Peden Farm is held the fourth Thursday and Friday each September.
The Festival is a school field trip for over 2,400 preschoolers, kindergartners, first and second graders, and homeschool families and their chaperones. Festival goers have the opportunity to visit over 50 different stations to learn more about Indiana Agriculture and the Monroe County community. The event has more than 250 volunteers each day.

INDIANA AGRICULTURE IN THE CLASSROOM
Agriculture in the Classroom is a grassroots educational outreach program for students in Pre-K through 12th grade. Facilitated by Indiana Farm Bureau and coordinated nationally by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the program helps children understand where their food comes from and the vital role farmers play in their everyday lives.
Each year, registered volunteers across Indiana engage nearly 60,000 students through classroom visits, hands-on activities, educational events, field trips, and on-farm experiences. These experiences bring agriculture to life in a way that is both fun and educational.
The Indiana Agriculture in the Classroom program provides standards-based lessons and resources, many of which are free of charge, to schools, community groups, and nonprofit organizations seeking to integrate agricultural themes into their curriculum.
